Op 15 juli 1975 werd DJ Devotion (Manuel de Bruin) geboren in Geldrop, in de buurt van Eindhoven. Tijdens zijn jeugd was hij constant bezig met muziek en nam hij de Top 40 op met zijn radio/cassettedeck om vervolgens met het nodige knip- en plakwerk provisorische remixen te maken. Terwijl al zijn leeftijdsgenoten Grunge beluisterden, was hij erg tegendraads en experimenteerde hij met Swingbeat en House. Uiteindelijk blijkt dat een goede keuze, want na wat voorzichtige DJ-avonden in het plaatselijke jeugdhonk werd hij gevraagd om te draaien in discotheken in Eindhoven. Zijn smaak had hij inmiddels verruimd met wat snufjes disco en al snel wist hij het Eindhovense te verruilen voor de Amsterdamse uitgaansgelegenheden.

Tegenwoordig is DJ Devotion in heel Nederland te vinden en werkt hij ook voor diverse opdrachtgevers. Zijn repertoire is enorm breed en hij staat er om bekend dat hij van iedere avond een compleet feest maakt. Ook is hij niet bang om de microfoon ter hand te nemen én er iets mee te doen!

Muziekstijl:

DJ Devotion is een technisch sterke DJ die verschillende muziekstijlen moeiteloos in elkaar laat overgaan. Van jaren 80 tot house, niets is hem te gek. De volgende stijlen zitten in zijn repertoire:

Devotion draaide o.a. in Club Diamonds te Eindhoven, Café Monico te Amsterdam, Club Nasty te Amsterdam, Pink Garden preparty te Zwolle, kick-off campagne kindermobiel van Scarlet Telecom te Lelystad, COC Zwolle, opening van kledingzaken New Yorker te Hengelo en Amsterdam, de Catacomben te Amsterdam, Fancy/Break-Out Schoolparty’s, Club Hollywood te Rotterdam, het Hiltonhotel te Antwerpen, de Decemberfeesten in de Broerekerk te Zwolle en de opening van het datacenter van Solcon te Apeldoorn.

Tegenwoordig staat DJ Devotion in de vaste programmering van The Bottom Of The Sea te Emmeloord, BUMP te Amsterdam en Thuis te Hilversum en Amersfoort.

DJ Devotion heeft o.a. gedraaid met de volgende DJ's: DJ Miss Smile, Brian S., Vato Gonzalez & MC Tjen, Promiss en Alvaro.

English biography:

On the 15th of july 1975 DJ Devotion (Manuel de Bruin) was born in Geldrop, near Eindhoven, in the Netherlands. During his childhood he was constantly involved with music and he taped the Top 40 using his cassette deck. While all his peers listened to grunge, he experimented with Swing Beat and House. It turned out to be a good choice, because after some DJ nights at the local youth center, he was asked to play gigs in clubs in Eindhoven. His taste has been influenced by funk and disco and it wasn’t before long he exchanged the nightlife of Eindhoven for the Amsterdam nightlife.

Today DJ Devotion’s main area of work is in the Netherlands, but has travelled beyond in Europe. His repertoire is very wide and he is known to turn every night into an incredible night.

Style:

DJ Devotion is a technically powerful DJ who can switch musical styles seamlessly into one another. From 80’s to 90’s, from R&B to house, nothing is too demanding for him. The following styles are in his repertoire:

DJ Devotion is one of the main residents of Club Bump in Amsterdam.
